Industrial gas masks are designed for higher concentrations of chemicals than military ones. An A2B2P3 filter is sufficient to protect civilians. The SX marking is not related to combat toxic substances, this marking is used in the case of checking the filter for a high concentration of any gas. Filters of Western European countries for civil defense and NATO troops do not have SH marking. When a manufacturer uses this marking, then a specific gas is indicated. The marking of filters for NATO military gas masks is not EN 14387 because it is an industry standard. In Europe, filters that have been tested by military institutes for civil protection are marked as follows: for the nuclear industry and work in the zone of radioactive damage, REAKTOR is indicated at the end of the marking, if combined protection against nuclear, chemical and bacteriological weapons is required, then at the end it is written "nuclear biological and chemical protection" (nuclear biological and chemical protection). But this does not mean that industrial filters, which have not been tested by military institutes, protect less. The same filter may be used in industry and the military, but labeled differently.
