Industrial gas masks are designed for higher concentrations of chemicals than military ones. To protect the civilian population, the A2B2P3 filter is sufficient. The SX marking is not related to military poisonous substances, this marking is used when checking the filter for a high concentration of any gas. Western European countries' filters for civil defense and NATO forces do not have the SX marking. When a manufacturer uses this label, then a specific gas is indicated. The marking of filters for military gas masks of the NATO army is not according to EN 14387 because it is an industry standard. In Europe, filters that have been tested at military institutes for civil protection are labeled as follows: for the nuclear industry and work in the radioactive zone, REAKTOR is indicated at the end of the marking, if combined protection against nuclear, chemical and bacteriological weapons is needed, then “nuclear biological” is written at the end and chemical protection” (nuclear biological and chemical protection). But this does not mean at all that industrial filters that have not been tested by military institutes protect less. The same filter can be used in industry and the army, but is labeled differently.
